Work & Travel in Irland ASI-School & Job-Placement-Programm Young people come to Ireland for work experience. Special work qualifications are not required. The objective is to give them experience in a particular field (catering industry for instance) and to provide them with an opportunity to improve their English. All of the participants will have at least some basic understanding of English upon their arrival. They send a CV and an application with one passport photo prior to their arrival. Work: The participants will be paid for their work (at least the minimum wage which, at the moment is around 8,65€/h. Accommodation: The organiser of the program arranges for accommodation for the participants (to be paid by the participants themselves). Sometimes, the participants would like get accommodation at work which occasionally is possible in the catering industry (hotels ect.) Language courses: The participants will have to do (i.e. pay for) a mandatory language course upon arrival. The language school is the “Cork English College”. IAV/AAA offers three options. Prices shown are the prices charged to their partner agency: Option A : 1300 Euro. This includes: A two-week intensive language course (20 lessons per week) while they do not work. On the first day the course participants will be assessed to make sure the class we have reserved is the most beneficial for the candidate + Course material + Registration fee with language school + Reservation of initial accommodation in a hostel in town. (The venue for the English classes is within walking distance.) Prices vary between 100 euro (hostel) and 280 euro (B&B) per week. If the participant doesn’t indicate any particular wish, ASI will book the first week in a dormitory in a hostel in central Cork for them. The payment for this week’s accommodation is not included in the package price. + Airport pickup at Cork airport upon arrival. + Job-placement (mainly in the catering industry). While the applicant is participating in the language course, ASI will introduce them to a number of prospective employers for a job interview. ASI will give them some coaching in how to be successful in their job interviews. + Participants will be given assistance if they want to look for private accommodation after their first week. Accommodation in a shared apartment costs 60-100 euro per week. + ASI assists the participants in obtaining a PPS-number (Sozialversicherungsnummer) which is required for taking up a job and for opening a bank account. + ASI assists the participants in opening a bank account. Suitability: ASI is only facilitating the job interviews with prospective employers. The agency can not be held responsible if an applicant is not deemed suitable for the job by the employer. ASI reserves the right to facilitate a maximum of three job interviews with prospective employers per applicant. Candidates have to indicate what level their English is. Candidates – or their German agency – have to send an English CV together with their application. (Template enclosed). Option B : 1550 euro. This includes: • A three-week intensive language course (20 lessons per week). Otherwise the same as Option A. Option C : 1800 euro.
